Skin can be classified as :

  • Normal Skin
  • Dry Skin
  • Oily Skin

Your skin will vary slightly based on your skin type. Below we mention general skin care guidelines applicable to all skin types.

Basics of Skin Care

Bathe regularly with hot water and soap. This will remove most of the grease and toxic substances that cause skin problems and skin infections. Use a good moisturising lotion regularly. Water is very important for the skin. A dry skin can invite lot of skin problems. Frequent oil massages can also help if your skin is very dry. Ultraviolet light from sunlight damages the skin. So always wear sunscreen when out in the sun. Healthy nutrition is very important for the skin. So a healthy diet will help you retain a healthy skin.

Skin Cleansers

A cleanser removes impurities from the skin and restores its natural oil balance. The most basic cleanser is a soap. There are also liquid cleansers for a more powerful cleaning experience. Pad cleansers are used by those using makeup during touch up. Grain cleansers are used by those with oily skin. Cream cleansers are used by those with dry skin.

Skin Refreshers

Refreshers are used after the skin has been cleaned. They rehydrate the skin and make it clear and clean. Astringents are refreshers used for oily and normal skins. Astringents contain alcohol and are not good for dry skin. People with dry or normal skin should use toners or fresheners. Toners and refresheners are mild refreshers.

Skin Moisturizers

Skin moisturizers nourish the skin and replace lost moisture. You should select your moisturizer based on your skin type - whether normal, dry or oily skin. Emollients are creams helpful for dry skin.

Skin Problems

Another skin disorder is Psoriasis. Psoriasis is a non-contagious genetic disease that is incurable but controllable.
